Holland Bostrom

What inspired you to become the artist that you are today?

Throughout my adolescence I found myself trying so hard to fit in, until I decided that I wanted to develop my own identity. My three most prominent inspirations today, along with the many influences I adopt from other photographers, are my friends, family, and community.

What interests you most about the art that you create? Why do you do it? What’s the goal?

My goal is to simply create simple (yet beautiful) photos. The thirst I continuously have for adventure is my motivator when creating; whether it’s in the city, at the beach, or deep within the mountains, I want to create something that others can enjoy who didn’t get to share the adventure with me.

How many hours weekly do you spend perfecting, practicing, or thinking about your art?

Seasonal differences, but on average, an hour per day.

What has been your biggest struggle in your journey to becoming an artist?

Money.

Where do you see yourself, as an artist, in 5 (or 10) years?

Someone who can consistently “wow” their audience.

Do you have a day-job or are you working on something other than your art?

I am currently studying at Appalachian State University.

Name one artist in your field that you really look up to, or one artist who’s work you look forward to.

The reason why I seriously adopted photography, Briscoe Park (@briscoepark), is a man that I look up to both as an artist and as a friend.

Name one of your favorite artists that you have worked with or would like to work with in the future.

One person I would love to have the pleasure of working with would be Dylan Furst (@fursty), because his style is consistent and his versatility is incomparable.
